Workshop: Vehicle Routing and Network Planning with the Decision Support System TransIT
GTS Systems
and Consulting GmbH invites all participants of the "EURO Conference Bonn 2009" to the TransIT
workshop. The workshop will introduce the decision support system TransIT to academic users and demonstrate how the system can be used for
teaching and research.
TransIT is
used in a wide range of different industries. These include distribution, recycling,
forwarding, service technician dispatching, and many more. In addition to
optimisation algorithms that are used for planning, TransIT offers a multitude
of other features, e.g., mobile communication, online GPS tracking, reporting
etc.
A special
TransIT educational license package is now available at a reduced price. This
allows teachers to demonstrate how modern decision support systems use
Operational Research (OR) based algorithms to improve both the efficiency of
planning and the quality of planning results. TransIT offers an open, service
oriented optimisation interface. By connecting to this interface, researchers can
test their own solvers, compare them to the standard solvers of TransIT and view
and analyse the results within an integrated platform. Moreover, since TransIT
takes into consideration many real-world constraints, researchers can also test
their algorithms on real-world problem classes that are only rarely considered
by academia.
The
workshop is open to all participants of the EURO Conference Bonn 2009. It will present both
the basic functionalities of the system and introduce the accompanying tutorial
and interface material. It is not required to register for the workshop.
